Thursday, January 30

I'm sorry to have missed PJ day yesterday; I was home sick.  Thanks to those parents who have offered to help with skating on Tuesday, February 11 from 1:40-2:20.  If you would like to volunteer and have your volunteer clearance please send me an e-mail to let me know.

This morning, students successfully completed the reading challenge and read for 25 minutes (défi de lecture). In math, students took out and are bringing home their addition work.  Students started to work on basic subtraction strategies to 20.  In social studies, students drew what homes are like in Meteghan and we watch a 15 minute video in French of what it's like to live in Iqaluit.  In a circle we shared some work for last week about the likes/dislikes of their snowman (picture below). Students also had their last class with M. Trevor and the Canadian Climber.

Hello families,

Our ultimate goal as teachers and parents is to raise lifelong readers.

On Thursday, February 6th at 6:30 pm, parents are invited to Varsity’s first Literacy Night.

Parents and guardians are invited to Join teacher Mme Jennifer McCann for a session covering how children learn to read, what the current research tells us is most effective and important, and how to best support your child.  A question and answer period will follow.

Although this presentation is best suited for parents with students in K-3, anyone is welcome to attend.

Please register online: https://forms.gle/585rrbPeSx5Krtf2A if you are able to attend.  We ask families to please arrange childcare and that only adults attend.  Thanks!
